Northwestern women’s club ultimate frisbee team, called GungHo, is a student-run club team that consists of around 40 athletes with diverse levels of experience. We have a competitive “A” team that travels across the country competing in tournaments with the hopes of making it to the national tournament. There is also a developmental “B” team that helps new players learn the skills and fundamentals of the game, while also traveling across the Midwest. Both teams focus on learning new skills and constantly improving; to do this, teammates participate in practice two to three times a week and travel to up to three tournaments per quarter. Our coaches are all former players who have gotten so much from the ultimate community that they are giving back by helping it grow more.
We are raising money on behalf of the Northwestern Athletic Department to be able to compete at our best and to bring the college ultimate community closer together. To prepare for competitive tournaments, practicing and improving our skills is crucial. Due to decreased on-campus practice space availability, we will need to rent out nearby indoor practice facilities for the upcoming seasons in order to learn and improve as a team when it gets too cold outside. We are also planning to host a tournament in the fall of 2019 near Evanston, where local college teams will compete. For this to be successful, we will need to rent out several fields-worth of outdoor space and purchase new frisbees, food, and water for all attending teams, among other things.
Our goal for this project is to raise $3,000. With your support, this hosted tournament will become possible and we will become a more competitive team. We are in the beginning stages of planning the tournament for the upcoming fall and would love to rent out practice space beginning this spring. No matter how small or large your contribution, you’re helping us reach our goal!
The cutest, most effective pass. Giving $10 would allow us to buy cones to mark the fields at the tournament we will host for local schools.
Getting an upline pass off puts you in a good position to huck it downfield and score! This gift would let us supply water for participating teams at our tournament.
It always feels great to stop your girl from throwing where she wants to throw! Giving this amount would allow us to buy game discs for our tournament.
It always feels great to throw the frisbee where your defender doesn’t want you to throw! This gift would go toward buying food for teams at our tournament.
Throw the disc from end to end with some major yards gained. A $250 gift would fund the money needed to rent out a local fieldhouse for practice.
There is no greater feeling than getting a defensive block and scoring at the same time! Give this much and you can fund a whole week’s worth of practice space for us.
The coolest, rarest, and greatest frisbee phenomenon: save a disc going out of bounds while simultaneously making a pass to a teammate. This gift would provide all the money to allow us to host our tournament!
