This spring, for one weekend in June, Arts Alliance presents Hedda Gabler on campus at Shanley Pavilion. Hedda Gabler is a classic play by Henrik Ibsen that has been reimagined for today’s audiences. The play follows Hedda Gabler, and her husband George Tesman, as they discover their marriage to be failing. When Hedda’s former lover, Eilert Lövborg, returns to town, Hedda becomes embroiled in a series of manipulations and power plays, leading to tragic consequences for herself and those around her. It engages with issues of bodily autonomy and agency for women, and specifically how heteronormative values can create a suffocating atmosphere for those who do not conform to them perfectly. We are so excited to bring an incredibly talented group of designers and performers together and bring this beautiful, thrilling show to campus in June!
