Every year, over 600 students participate in more than 100 student-run performances presented across Northwestern’s campus, including plays, a cappella concerts, and dance presentations. These performances reach over five thousand audience members in the Northwestern, Evanston, and broader Chicago-land communities. Productions range from experimental workshops in classroom spaces to full scale Broadway-style musicals in Cahn Auditorium. These processes act as a key environment for undergraduate artists, managers, designers, and technicians to employ what they are learning in the classroom to real world situations, develop creative collaboration skills, and build lifelong friendships with other students and alumni.
Student-led performances have been habitually challenged by equipment shortages and existing equipment in poor or unusable conditions. Large scale maintenance and replacement is urgently necessary to ensure the continued survival and success of student performances at Northwestern.
Help us raise $15,000 towards our goal to fund necessary equipment replacements and repairs for student run productions. Your contribution will help us purchase new lighting and sound equipment including new lights, microphones, speakers, cables. These gifts will also help us repair and upgrade existing fixtures. You can play a part in making our productions safer, more financially accessible to students, and more cost effective for student organizations to produce.
