Who we are
Northwestern Taekwondo Club is a community of students who love to kick. Established in 1999, NU Taekwondo is one of the oldest and largest martial arts clubs on Northwestern’s campus. Our members are of all skill and experience levels. From black belts with more than 10 years of experience to those who have never heard of Taekwondo before joining, we are open to all. We offer practices, hold belt tests, attend competitions, and perform at the annual KASA (Korean American Student Association) show. We are more than a team; we are a family.
Our goal
Taekwondo Club performance during the annual KASA show is one of the most anticipated parts of the event. Our collaboration with KASA has been standing for years, and it is one of the ways in which we celebrate the Korean heritage of this beautiful sport. To make the show as spectacular and inspiring as every year, we require lots of resources. We need wooden boards for breaking, as well as gear and other items to practice and showcase our board breaking and sparring skills. We need musical soundtrack for all the different parts of the show. We need to market our performance to the Northwestern community, make and distribute posters around the campus, and on social media. Finally, we need to be able to record photos and videos of our performance to be able to publish it on our social media to further advertise our club and keep the memories of all the hard work.
What you can do
We need your help to raise funds to replace performance equipment and provide enough resources for the new members, which will help us spread our passion for Taekwondo to the broader Northwestern student body. Give to our project! Any amount helps.
