We are thrilled that triathlon club has grown significantly over the past few years. We now have over 90 members!
For many members, Northwestern's Triathlon Club is their first introduction to the sport of triathlon. To make the transition to training and competing in triathlons smoother, we are starting to have clinics focused on different aspects of triathlon that many club members find intimidating. For example, we want to purchase more team bikes to increase the number of members that have the opportunity to go on outdoor group road rides. We also would like to be able to purchase swim equipment for the club because COVID has impacted the amount of equipment (kickboards, pull buoys, etc.) available for use at SPAC. Increasing our team equipment fleet is of the utmost importance as COVID continues to impact the space constraints and safety precautions that are taken when practicing indoors.
Triathlon is an expensive sport and involves purchasing equipment for three separate sports. We want all members of Northwestern Triathlon Club to be able to fully participate in the sport of triathlon without having to personally own equipment for swimming, biking, and running. Thank you for your help and donations!!
We need equipment to be able to repair tire flats when they happen. Having extra bike tubes on hand will also allow us to teach club members how to change a flat on their own.
Pull buoys and kickboards are not always available at SPAC for swim practices, especially since COVID. We would like to be able to purchase our own kkckboards and pull buoys to be able to practice when public equipment is not available.
Safety is of the highest importance, especially when riding bikes outdoors. We would like to buy a few team helmets to allow members to borrow a helmet before they are able to buy their own.
At larger events like Nationals, we want every participant to be able to represent Northwestern with our team race suit. These suits are expensive, though, so we would like to have some team suits that members could borrow as needed instead of having to purchase their own.
Increasing our fleet of team road bikes for members to use during outdoor rides and races. As our team grows, adding to the number of road bikes we have is very important.
