3rd Annual Home IHSA Show (Equestrian Club)

Who We Are:

The Northwestern University Equestrian Team is a community of dedicated, passionate riders from many different backgrounds. Our teammates range from undergraduate to graduate students and beginners to world-renowned riders, but we are all able to bond over our shared passion for horses and equestrian sport. We practice at Red Coat Farm, located in Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, under the guidance of our wonderful coach, Meggie Cramer. We take pride in practicing quality horsemanship by setting positive examples for one another and for younger riders we meet, helping out with plenty of dirty work around the barn, and always bringing an encouraging attitude into the ring. We compete against midwestern universities on the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) circuit during the regular season, and, if all goes well, against other teams around the country!

Our Goal:

Three years ago, it was unthinkable that our team would host a show in the foreseeable future; we were small, quite limited in resources, and had to prioritize simpler goals. But two years ago, we hosted a one-day horse show—shorter than the typical collegiate show—for the first time. Last year, we made it happen again—twice as long and with twice as much horsepower (no pun intended) all thanks to donors like you

It does not end here, though. This time around, we are aiming to subsidize show fees for a full roster of riders for the season while also being able to continue hosting shows—two financially strenuous objectives. Because our region is small and does not offer many showing opportunities, it is difficult for nearby schools to advance to the final shows at the national level. We have proudly given back to the other teams in our region by hosting. Now, it’s time to also give ourselves a shot at success by bringing a larger squad of riders up to the competitive level.

How You Can Help:

Major costs include renting facilities, using our barn’s horses, hiring judges, buying ribbons and prizes, stocking a concession stand, and others.

Your gifts—no matter how small—are a tremendous help to the team and will turn this dream into a reality. Spreading awareness to our cause via email and social media is equally as valuable. We truly appreciate any effort you put toward our goal.
