Winter Musical (Jewish Theatre Ensemble)

Jewish Theatre Ensemble

JTE is one of nine student-run theatre boards at Northwestern University, and is proud to be a part of the Student Theatre Coalition community. We endeavor to produce theatre that is specifically Jewish, universally human, and that mantra extends to the artists who make it. While all members of our executive board are passionate about the role of Judaism in the theatre, many of our members are not Jewish and have no background or knowledge of Judaism. You don't have to be Jewish to get involved!

Winter Louis Room Musical

This year, our cast of 14 student actors and our production team of 16 students (and growing!) will work together with JTE to take on the exciting challenge of staging a fully-realized musical in the Norris University Center’s Louis Room. In this well-loved musical, a cast of fairy-tale characters embark on a journey to find their happily ever after—where they learn the great responsibility that comes with getting what they wish for. We are especially excited to explore this show through the lens of JTE’s season quote by Anne Frank: “Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.”

Our Goal

Because our show is a fully student-produced venture, we as students are responsible for raising the funds necessary for the sets, lights, costumes, props, and everything else we need to turn the Louis Room into the magical fairy-tale world of the forest. As the Louis Room is not a traditional theatre space, this will be no easy task. Given the demands of our show, we are hoping to raise $4,500 through #CATSGiveBack.

How to Help

Our team is so excited about this project, but without your help, we couldn’t make our dreams a reality. Here are some ways you can get involved!

1. Give a gift. A tax-deductible contribution to our project will help provide sets, lights, costumes, music, props, and all of the other professional-quality resources that will help our team of passionate students bring this show to life.

2. Share our page. We need as many supporters of our project as possible! Spread the word to friends and family on social media at the links above.

3. See the show. Join us in the woods on February 8 and 9 in the Norris Center’s Louis Room at Northwestern!
