UPDATE:
We have reached our stretch goal and we are officially going to Asia! Words cannot describe how grateful, humbled, and blessed we feel to have amazing donors like you. Thank you.
We have now increased our goal to $15,000. We will use these funds to purchase publicity gear, produce extra copies of our studio albums to give out, and ensure no member of our group is unable to go on the tour due to financial constraint. These extra funds will help us go beyond need and invest in things that will make our tour extraordinary. Your support continues to make an impact.
About Treblemakers
Established in 2004, Treblemakers is Northwestern University’s only East-Asian-interest a cappella group. Our members hail from all over the world, including China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and various parts of the United States, each bringing unique influences from their home countries. Specializing in music across multiple languages, such as Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Cantonese, and English, we perform around the Northwestern campus as well as in the greater Chicago area. An award-winning a cappella group, some of our accomplishments include founding an intercollegiate a cappella conference, various awards for our debut album, and placing third in the Midwest quarterfinals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella.
Our Project
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to be a part of the Northwestern Treblemakers Asia Tour 2016. With Seoul, Beijing, and Hong Kong as our destinations, our vision for the tour is a cultural exchange between our group and global audiences through our mutual love of music. We aim to spread the name of our great school and work as ambassadors between the high schools we visit and the University as we represent Northwestern overseas. To accomplish this, we will host educational workshops and performances at local high schools and universities, teaching students not only about music, but also about the college experience.
As an Asian American a cappella group, one of Treblemakers’ key goals is to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western cultures. We hope that this trip will help us achieve that goal. Music has the unique ability to connect people from various walks of life, and a cappella is especially powerful, as we use only our voices to make music together. This form of expression is still new to Asia, and we hope to share this musical genre with our audiences.
The tour is scheduled for March 16‒26, 2016, which coincides with Northwestern University’s spring break. We hope that you will join us in this extraordinary opportunity to promote a cappella in Asia.
