Who Are We?
APAC’s mission is to highlight and magnify the voices of Asian Americans in all sectors of society, from activism to government to arts & entertainment.
Our Project:
Spring Speaker is our largest event of the year, and for it we invite prominent Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander (AAPI) speakers to share their experiences and how their identities have shaped their work and philosophies.
Past speakers brought by APAC to Northwestern’s Evanston campus include Ruby Ibarra (Filipino American rapper and musician), Franny Choi (Korean American spoken word artist & activist), Ki-Hong Lee (actor in the Mazerunner movie series and the Netflix original series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), and Wong Fu Productions (Asian American filmmaking group).
This year, we are focused on bringing a panel of AAPI activists—from community organizers to politicians-- to Northwestern's Evanston campus to talk about how their experiences and identities intersect with their advocacy. This will be an important event for students on campus—but it can only happen with your help!
How you can help!
Your support of APAC’s Spring Speaker event will allow us to bring prominent activists and community leaders to share their experiences and insight on activism. In doing so, we hope to inspire and mobilize Northwestern’s student body into political action.
With your help, we will be able to bring these hugely important figures in the Asian American activist community to Northwestern’s campus.
For $10, join the exclusive (okay, not that exclusive) APAC fan club! Your contribution helps strengthen the Asian American community at Northwestern and allows us to bring underrepresented voices to our Wildcats.
For $20.18, you can help us hire someone to work lighting and sound at our venue for an hour. Just three gifts at this level will keep the lights on for the whole event!
For $50, you rent out the entire venue for the event. Thanks for keeping a roof over our heads!
For $100, cover one way airfare for one of our panelists. APAC (well, our panelists, really) can take to the skies with your help!
For $500, you’re making a huge dent in covering the cost of hosting our speakers. We want to bring big name activists, but in order to do that, we need to make sure that they are fairly compensated for their time, unique experience, and insight. Your contribution makes sure we can bring together the best possible panel.
