Thank You!

December 13, 2017

Thank you so, so much to everyone who donated and helped us bring this production to life. Because of your generosity, FAIR GAME was a massive success and more than we could’ve imagined it would be. We are so happy to have welcomed six sold out audiences into Cahn Auditorium and transported them to Chicago in the 1890s. Our designers were able to use professional equipment and gain knowledge and experience that will continue to serve them in their design endeavors. Our team is also incredibly proud of their output, which could not have been brought to fruition without your support. We were especially excited by the live orchestra and choir that performed an original score composed just for FAIR GAME. This could not have happened without the last new generous contributions. Thank you so much for helping to recreate the 1893 Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition! In case you didn't get to come see the show, here is our promotional video where you can see the cast in their period costumes! Check Sit & Spin Productions Facebook page for production photos that will be posted in a few weeks.

Last Chance to Donate!

November 21, 2017

On behalf of the FAIR GAME team, we’d like to thank everyone who has donated so far. We’re incredibly humbled to see the amount of people who have supported our project and made our dreams a reality. However, it’s not over yet! There’s still 11 hours left to donate! Are you going to make the Fair a reality? Please share our project and help spread the word!

To the Fair...and Beyond!

November 03, 2017

We are so excited to say that thanks to the extremely generous support of our donors so far, we have reached our original goal of $3,000! We are overwhelmed by the generosity we have seen thus far and want to continue the momentum with a stretch goal of $4,000! The Chicago World’s Fair was an event of extreme spectacle so we still have many ideas that we can accomplish with your continued support. If we can surpass our budget, we will be able to pay our musicians for their hard work. FAIR GAME has an original score that was composed and orchestrated by Northwestern students. This music will be performed live by a 10 person orchestra and will provide the soundscape to the events happening all around Cahn auditorium. With your support, we will be able to pay this orchestra for their tremendous work.

Over Halfway to the Fair!

October 23, 2017

We’re more than halfway to our goal! Thank you to everybody who has already donated. Watching this project continue to grow has been an incredible experience for everyone on the team. Now that we’ve reached the 50% funding milestone, we can buy period-appropriate suits and gowns to show off the grandeur of the characters attending the fair. The Chicago World's Fair is halfway to opening, but we still need your help to make it complete! Please help us reach our overall goal by spreading the word in person, via social media, or through email.

We recently had our first rehearsal for this show. 34 students attended: 17 production team members (designer teams, business team, producers etc) in addition to the 17 cast members. We read through the whole script and heard presentations from our designers and director/writer. Our first two weeks of rehearsal have been spent acclimating to each other as an ensemble, and acclimating to the tone and style of the piece. We are doing a lot of "world-building," meaning actors are presented with an extended textual sequence and then given freedom to fill in the blanks, stringing these isolated moments together in context of our historical research. We then address any new questions that arise, particularly about historical context. At the end of this week, we will have put the bulk of the text on its feet.

We are so humbled by how quickly we reached this halfway point and hope to continue the momentum to raise the second half of our goal! Thank you again for your support!
