The Jewish Theatre Ensemble (JTE) is one of the nine student theater boards within the Student Theatre Coalition (StuCo) at Northwestern University. Since its founding in 1995, the organization has presented more than 50 productions to Northwestern students and members of the Evanston and Chicagoland communities. The Jewish Theatre Ensemble exists to provide the Northwestern community with high quality entertainment and exposure to Jewish involvement in the arts. While our board members and collaborators are all keenly inspired by the role that faith plays in our lives and hope to reflect that in the stories we tell, many involved with JTE are not Jewish and have no prior knowledge of Judaism before working with us.
This February, the Jewish Theatre Ensemble is back for their annual winter Louis slot to present Peter and the Starcatcher. A prequel to the Peter Pan stories we all know and love, the zany cast of characters must unravel the mystery of the mysterious starstuff, make their way to a seemingly-uninhabited island, and avoid being kidnapped by the nefarious Black Stache. The pirates might make that difficult!
Over 50 Northwestern students work together both on stage and behind the scenes to bring this musical to light. With no barriers to entry, this production provides an ideal opportunity for students to build a community and gain valuable collaboration skills while mounting this show. All of this would not be possible without your support. All funds raised towards this project will support production expenses including costumes, lights, sound equipment, sets, and the many other expenses that come with producing a large scale musical. We are grateful for your support and hope you will consider supporting live student theater!
This gift pays for renting build space to keep the team warm while building in the winter.
