The purpose of our project is to create a production under the Purple Crayon Players that creates something magical, spectacular, and meaningful for both youth and adult audiences. Our mission is devoted to educating and entertaining young audiences, and this would be the first time this production has been put up in such a space like McCormick for over three years. This project would further a sense of play and interaction with its design and create a spectacle that engages its audiences and empowers children.
Purple Crayon Players is one of the only theater groups on campus dedicated to young audiences and education, meaning that every production is accessible to its local community and provides a message that is simple and allows audiences to grow. This production fosters a community of artists that are dedicated to creating theater for young audiences, meaning they are willing and able to learn about what students look for and want out of theatrical productions and go above and beyond to create that spectacle for their audiences. In addition, the Northwestern community is known for its advancements in theater for young audiences, and giving adult audiences the agency as well as young audiences to explore their own sense of play and the simple but effective messages these stories portray allow for the acceptance and development of the meaning of TYA on this campus.
