Project Description:
Each spring, Northwestern University Women Filmmaker’s Alliance hosts a panel of successful alumnae from across the country. The event is open to all Northwestern students, giving them the opportunity to learn from the lives and careers of talented women in the film and television industry. The panel aims to inspire students to pursue their artistic interests and inform them of career possibilities that exist after leaving Northwestern. It is a unique opportunity for our talented alumnae to share their stories and their successes with the school and future women filmmakers.
This year we hope to raise $1,200 to help fund our spring industry panel. All the money we receive will go toward our panelists’ traveling expenses and making sure they feel welcome during their visit. Past speakers have included executive producers, writers, and show runners from NBC, MGM, and various other media companies.
Even in today’s age, there is tremendous gender discrimination facing female filmmakers. Our Spring Industry Panel aims to celebrate women within the film and television industries and to inspire a new generation of young women to pursue their aspirations.
