Who are we?
NU Thrift Store is a source of affordable and sustainable clothing and dorm necessities for the Northwestern community. We collect donations and thrift donated items back to the NU community, including students, staff, and faculty. The future goals of our organization include furnishing and upkeeping a permanent store location on campus, hosting events such as guest speakers and project leaders for interactive/creative, sustainable/ecological fashion events, and building relationships with other sustainability and fashion organizations on campus and in the local community.
Why are we fundraising?
Our project of finding and maintaining a permanent location for our club would allow thrifting to become a more integrative and constant part of the NU community. By having a permanent location on campus, we hope to invite more students to actively and consistently engage in sustainable clothing consumption.
We hope to use these funds to bring guest speakers and project leaders to campus to talk about sustainable thrifting and other ways to consume in a way that is economically and ecologically smart.
Although our organization seeks to specifically meet the needs of FGLI students by providing affordable winter, casual, and formal clothing, our organization serves the entire Northwestern community. We also hope to use our profits to support other student groups on campus with similar sustainability interests.
