Thank you!

March 04, 2022

We just wanted to say one more time: thank you all for the support and donations! Medical Makers Catalyzer campaign has raised $1,085 which is 108.5% of our original goal of $1000. The impact of these donations was great! We have been able to actually build our ideas from the ground up from idea to mockup to functioning prototypes, which can be used to address unmet clinical needs. With these donations, the team was able to improve the lives of patients. So again thank you everyone for all your contributions!

We could still use your help!

March 03, 2022

Thank you so much to everyone who has made a gift and who have helped us reach our goal! We have now increased our goal to $1,500 to be able to further refine our prototypes for actual clinical use. This additional support allows students to further improve on our prototypes by being able to purchase more equipment to build separate components that can improve on our current prototype. This would include more sensitive sensors, stronger materials for clinical use, and so on. While we’ve made tremendous progress, so far we still could use your support!

We’ve reached our goal!

March 03, 2022

Wow! Thank you so much to everyone who has made a gift! We have reached our project goal of $1,000 for the development of prototypes for unmet clinical needs. With your help, we have been able to bring our ideas into reality and have been empowered to create clinical applications for use by nurses and patients in hospitals. So here’s to everyone who has helped us, whether it was a direct gift or spreading the word about our project. Without you, our project would not be what it is today. So once again, thank you so much for everything!

The Final Stretch - 1 Day Left!!!

March 02, 2022

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all the donations! With this, we have come from brainstorming ideas to building mockups to creating prototypes to help meet the clinical needs of patients and nurses. With just 1 more day left in our campaign, we want to make the most of our time. Therefore we encourage you to share this project with people who would be interested in helping us. Every little bit helps! And once more, thank you everyone so much for all your support! It really means a lot to us and it is heartwarming to see so many people concerned about improving the lives of others!

We’re nearly there—just a little more!

February 26, 2022

Wow! Thank you everyone for all the support! We have reached the 75% mark of our project goal at $750 (the homestretch!). With this support, our teams have been able to begin building prototypes and test new ideas to better improve our final designs using equipment purchases directly supported by you! Now with only $250 more to go, we can really use your help for one more push to reach our goal!

1 Week Left-We Can Do It!

February 24, 2022

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far! Your help really means a lot! Our teams have made great progress in creating ideas and designs for patients' unmet clinical needs. There are over 20 million Americans who suffer from some form of incontinence making incontinence-related injuries prevalent in clinical settings and nearly 300k patients with spinal cord injuries. Our team strives to solve these issues using innovative design but we need your help to put our ideas into action. So with only 1 week left in our campaign, we ask you to please share this project with as many people you know so that they can join us to improve lives. Thank you, everyone! You’re all amazing!

Slow and steady!

February 14, 2022

Thank you very much for your help! We’ve been able to hit our 50% project goal of $500. Thanks to your valuable support, we can start putting more resources towards buying equipment for the team to start prototyping our ideas and designs. If you know of someone that would be interested in supporting our projects, please reach out to them so that they can help support our cause. Again, thank you for your help and thank you for helping us improve lives!

Hello world! Let’s get to work!

February 11, 2022

Thank you very much to those who have made a gift so far! With your help, our teams can work towards providing solutions to previously unmet clinical needs of patients and nurses, in particular incontinence detection and wheelchair accessibility and utility. A study by Susan A. Kayser found that patients with incontinence experienced much higher cost of care: an average $3,000 difference in hospital bills between continent and incontinent patients. In addition, patients with incontinence had significantly worse patient outcomes with higher readmission rates (4% higher than continent patients) and being 4.7 times more likely to have sacral pressure wounds. These worse outcomes are caused by late responses to incontinence bowel movements accidents which our project hopes to address. Similarly, wheelchair users often have to rely on the support of their family or expensive at-home caretakers. By creating a device that allows wheelchair users with quadriplegia to extend the function of their wheelchairs, we will greatly expand that patient’s freedom and self-efficacy. This reduces a patient’s need for constant care and support, improving their quality of life. If you know any nurses, we encourage you to please share this project with them, as we feel these devices would be applicable and useful in all hospital settings to increase patient quality of life overall.
