Sparring is an important component of Taekwondo, and the appropriate equipment is needed to keep our members safe during sparring. Unfortunately, a lot of our club’s sparring equipment is at least several years old. They are becoming too worn and our limited quantities are insufficient to support our club’s growing size. We are in need of funds to purchase new sparring equipment so that our members can practice sparring safely.
WHO WE ARE
Northwestern Taekwondo Club is a community of students who love to kick. Established in 1999, NU Taekwondo is one of the oldest and largest martial arts clubs on Northwestern’s campus. Our members are of all skill and experience levels. From black belts with more than 10 years of experience, to those who have never heard of Taekwondo before joining, we are open to all. We offer practices, hold belt tests, attend competitions, and perform at the annual Korean American Student Association (KASA) show. We are more than a team; we are a family.
OUR GOAL
We have had our current sparring gear for many years, so it has accumulated a lot of wear and damage. Our club grew significantly with the end of COVID, but we do not have enough equipment to support its growth. This is concerning since sparring gear is needed to protect our members while practicing. We need your help to raise funds to replace our old sparring equipment and provide enough equipment for the new members, which will help foster passion for Taekwondo on Northwestern’s campus for years to come.
