Who We Are:
Sit & Spin Productions is a student-run theatre board that exists to expand the definition of theatre at Northwestern University by giving artists opportunities to explore unconventional, risk-taking works. We promote new approaches to existing material, adapted or original work, and site-specific theatre. We value process over product and emphasize the growth of the artists involved in our production in addition to the quality of the work itself.
Why are we raising this money:
In order to put on our production, which includes so many creative aspects, we need to raise enough money to afford the design and technical elements for our show. Student-run theatre, and theatre in general, has taken a hit because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The past year, Northwestern theater has been performing virtually, but this fall we are so lucky to be able to produce an in-person show. However, the transition back to in-person performing means we’ll have a lot of design costs i.e. lighting, sound, projection, costumes and the like. The show we’re producing specifically has a lot of technical aspects to it, and we anticipate needing lots of equipment to realize our creative vision. We hope that our show, a dystopian and poignant love story following a young woman stuck in a room, will leave the audience thinking about their own experiences during the pandemic’s quarantine period.
How Can You Help:
Your donation will go a long way in fulfilling the artistic visions of our team as well as help us to take all necessary precautions to keep our artists safe throughout the process. If you aren’t able to donate at this time, we would love for you to share this page with someone who you think would be interested in our work, or share the page on social media!
