Founded in 2014, Northwestern Raas is Northwestern University's premier Raas/Garba dance team.
Raas/Garba is a high-energy and competitive co-ed folk dance originating from the Indian state of Gujarat. Our goal is to increase cultural awareness on campus of the South Asian community through dance. We perform several shows per year and also compete at least once annually.
We are still a young, competitive team and continue to grow. As we gain members and put on more shows, additional resources are needed to keep our team up and running. Raas requires traditional Gujarati costumes, which we need to replace every few years. Additionally, we need lighting and sound equipment to accentuate our choreography on stage, as well as photographers and videographers to document our performances.
We would love to have your help in order to keep our Northwestern Raas dance team accessible to all members and finance our love of performance.
