This spring, for one weekend only in June, Arts Alliance presents Urinetown the Musical in an outdoor location on campus! Urinetown is a musical-comedy in the not-so-distant future in which a water shortage forces people to pay for the privilege to pee. The musical follows Bobby Strong as he leads a rebellion against the UGC for the right to pee. A collaborative megamusical, Urinetown is co-directed by Delia Cunningham and Autumn Thelander and co-produced by Lucy Harrington and Gillian Finnegan. We are thrilled to bring an incredibly talented group of actors together in-person, outdoors, fully masked, and socially distanced this spring, for what will be the first live and in-person production at Northwestern since last year! The show will be performed live and there will be a small in-person audience in addition to a livestream.
Arts Alliance creates art that reflects, deepens, and challenges the greater Northwestern community. We provide a positive atmosphere in which students can learn and work alongside a committed and supportive board to create professional-quality productions. Each season we commit to producing work that fulfills the three pillars of our mission statement: Art that is Easy to Reach: we are committed to catering to our community’s financial and physical needs to allow everyone to enter our spaces comfortably. Art that is Easy to Speak with: we strive to create art that can provide language to spark challenging conversations and the space in which those productive dialogues can occur. Art that is Easy to Relate to: we are dedicated to telling resonant human stories, uplifting diverse voices and perspectives, and practicing inclusivity in our processes and products.
Supply one of our cast members with a glamorous toilet plunger to help lead the revolution alongside Bobby.
Save Little Sally from going to Urinetown and pay for her fee to use the public amenity!
Turns out the secret hideout isn’t so secret and the revolutionaries need to pay rent to keep their hideout. Help out the revolution by paying the rent!
Let’s be honest, Public Amenity #9 is looking a little dingy. Help out Penelope Pennywise by sponsoring a new amenity for her to run!
We see a river, do you? Help us manifest a flowing river to then dry up by the end of the show!
