Who We Are
Northwestern Crew was founded in 1981 with an original crew of nine students. Today, our club has about 40 members. We are a team of highly dedicated students, practicing over 20 hours each week and waking up before 5 a.m. to do what we love. Our club competes against varsity programs in some of the nation’s largest regattas. Within the last two years, both the men’s and women’s boats have medaled multiple times.
Why We Need Your Help
As our team continues to grow and become more competitive, we need to start fine-tuning every rower’s technique. We need good form in addition to brute strength to be able to win races, and there is no better way to highlight the imperfections in a rower’s stroke than by having him or her row in a pair or double. Since small boats are harder to balance than 4s or 8s, rowers will develop a sense of balance and refine their technique. With good form, our team will become faster when rowing in 4s or 8s. As a team full of enthusiastic, talented rowers, we want to set ourselves up as best as possible for success when it comes to our equipment. Two new pairs/doubles will help us compete at a higher level and make our winter training all the more worth it when we get back on the water in the spring!
