Support students at Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences!

Your gift to the WCAS Dean’s Fund - COVID-19 Relief will help address the immediate needs of our community in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic: improving remote instruction, virtual advising, research opportunities, and technology support. This fund will also provide seed grants to fast-track research related to understanding and solving this pandemic.

To date, we have:

  • Moved almost 700 courses online in 3 weeks with over 450 faculty teaching spring quarter
  • Held over 600 virtual advising sessions to support students in this new environment
  • Launched the new initiative, Communities of Practice Experience (COPE), for all spring and summer teachers, a platform for faculty to share best practices, problem-solve issues with peers and experts, and leverage technology solutions
  • Moved all Waldron Student-Alumni Connections programming to a virtual environment
  • Opened the application process for Weinberg College seed grants to jump-start or invest in work that improves understanding of the disease

We will:

  • Move all summer courses online and assess the learning and technology needs of our students to ensure all students have the tools to connect and thrive in a virtual environment
  • Move Arch Scholars summer programs, academic programs for low-income and first-generation students, to an online learning environment
  • Support online advising helping students manage new challenges in learning and academic planning
  • Work with departments to support our graduate students seeking additional support
  • Deliver Weinberg College seed grants up to $15,000 to support Coronavirus-related research
  • Invest in interdisciplinary programs that we expect to see a boost in the coming months, including Global Health Studies, undergraduate research, and Chicago Field Studies
