Xanadu: This February, for one weekend only, WAVE Productions presents Xanadu, directed by Shane Eichstaedt and produced by Sophia Barron. It’s not a myth, baby! Slap on your roller skates, pump up the glitter, and get hip to the muses of Xanadu. The year is 1980 and the beach is Venice. A discouraged street artist suddenly finds himself magically inspired upon meeting his muse. With both help and hindrance from some EEEvil women—and from a clarinetist-turned-real estate mogul—the star-crossed lovebirds work to build their ‘apex of the arts’: a roller disco. With a book by Douglas Carter Beane and music and lyrics by Jeff Lynne and John Farrar, Xanadu is the rare musical with a big heart and an even bigger funny bone.
WAVE Productions: WAVE is a self-supporting, not-for-profit student theater company operating primarily on Northwestern University’s Evanston campus. WAVE Productions exists to open the door to a better future. We strive to produce stories the campus needs by empowering our peer collaborators in pursuit of their passions and growth.
