Treblemakers Turns 15 (Treblemakers)

Who we are:

Treblemakers, founded in 2004, is Northwestern University’s award-winning, co-ed, premier East Asian-interest a cappella group. Our members come from all over the world, hailing from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and various parts of the United States. To celebrate our diverse and nuanced identities, we perform and arrange songs in multiple languages and genres, from English rock anthems to Chinese ballads to Korean pop hits, just to name a few.  

We are an a cappella group that strives to promote Asian and Asian-American musical excellence and share it with the surrounding community, but we are also a family that loves to sing, eat, and laugh with one another. 

Our Catalyzer campaign:

This spring, our group will be turning 15 years old. Therefore, we are launching our fundraising campaign so that we can continue making music for the Northwestern community for many more years to come. All your contributions will go directly towards funding things such as renting sound equipment and event space, so that we can keep celebrating the Asian American identity and a cappella music in communities both on and off campus.

Ways in which we have shared our love for music beyond NU:

In 2010, Treblemakers founded Quad-A, the Asian American A Cappella Association. Quad-A is a weekend conference consisting of various workshops and performances with other East Asian-interest a cappella groups. Every two years, we come together to recognize what we have in common: a love for music, food, and community. Since its founding, Treblemakers has hosted Quad-A three times at Northwestern University. 

In 2014 and 2017, Treblemakers competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, winning Third Place and the Best Soloist Award at the Quarterfinals. 

In 2016, we embarked on our first ever international tour to Asia.

In 2018, we performed for family, friends, and younger generations of aspiring performers on our second tour in California.
