Who are we?
THUNK a cappella is Northwestern University's oldest a cappella group. THUNK has been singing and rocking "hot black" on campus since 1993. Ever since our founding, we have ceaselessly striven to fulfill our mission of bringing incredible music to this campus and to venues around the world. Our quarterly shows, numerous gigs, and group trips—domestically and abroad—are what make THUNK so special to the community and to its members. Your gifts will help us continue our love of singing.
Why are we participating in #CATSGiveBack?
Our main goal for funding in #CATSGiveBack would be to have funds accessible for increasing the quality of our shows, as well as having money accessible for better sound equipment, our own transportable keyboard, and more time with a videographer would be really important to the campus shows we have. We've been able to do some really exciting things when we extend beyond Northwestern, including singing at the wedding of two THUNK alumni and collaborating with a Chicago high school for a workshop. Having funds saved for these projects that don't get allocated for our biannual Cape Town trip enhances the full group experience and impacts Northwestern and the Chicago area. Our goal is to raise $5,000.
For $10, you can cover the cost of one new THUNK T-shirt for a new member of THUNK or an audience member who comes to our concert!
Help us pay for marketing materials like posters to help advertise our concerts around campus! It would be really sad if nobody knew about our events.
We would absolutely love to have a photography booth at our concert so our audiences can remember their experience with fun pictures! With $25 dollars, you can help us with part of this cost.
Please help us fund the rental of important sound equipment like microphones and speakers so everyone can hear us sing!
THUNK hires a videographer to record all of our concerts so we can enjoy them for years to come. For $100, you can pay for our videographer and then vicariously watch our concert on YouTube if you don’t come in person!
A gift of $200 would cover the cost of one space rental for a concert so we don’t have to sing outside in the Chicago winter. We would love to have a cozy place where all of our audience members can come enjoy themselves and hear beautiful music!
