Northwestern Mock Trial (NUMT) is an extracurricular organization that offers NU undergrads unique opportunities to learn about the law and prepare themselves for law school and/or future careers. Students play out fictional court cases, and recent graduates have used the skills and networks created through this activity to gain acceptance to top law schools such as Harvard, Georgetown, and Columbia. For more information about us, check out our website at northwesternmocktrial.org
This project is a longtime goal of NUMT—to host an invitational tournament so that some of the top collegiate mock trial programs in the nation can compete right here in our city. The invitational will be hosted next school year, most likely over a weekend during the fall. We will open our doors to the student body and the community so that they have an opportunity to learn about the law in a less intimidating setting than a courtroom. We will also reach out to, among others, the legal studies department on campus to enhance the educational benefits of the event.
