Fall Cahn (Sit & Spin Productions)
What is Fefu and Her Friends?
Fefu and Her Friends is an immersive play written by Cuban-American playwright María Irene Fornés. Set in pre-feminist America, it explores the relationships within a group of old college friends and former lovers and what it means to be women in a male-dominated world.
The audience will be led throughout Cahn Auditorium and allowed to witness the subtle nuances and underlying tensions that gird the relationships between the characters, and see it amplified by Fornés’s simultaneously prescient, daring, and absurdist text. With the direction and vision of Morgan Rielly ’19, this show will provide audiences the rare opportunity to explore an entire world and question how they create gender norms and societal standards.
Who We Are:
The show is presented by Sit & Spin, a not-for-profit student theatre group committed to expanding the definition of theatre and exploring unconventional works.
A team of more than 50 people is collaborating to orchestrate every aspect of this challenging production. From set design to fundraising to outreach, the production serves as an opportunity for collaboration on a grand scale.
A production of this scope and scale is particularly challenging because every area of Cahn will need to be transformed. Our goal is to at least $5000 to help our show come to life.
