Seesaw Theatre Winter show (Seesaw Theatre)

What Seesaw Is: Seesaw Theatre is a student theatre organization at Northwestern University that works to create sensory-friendly and interactive theatre experiences for audiences with developmental differences.

Multi-Sensory: Our shows are made to embrace all of the senses, not just sight and sound. Get ready to walk into a brand new world.

One-on-One: When you bring a guest to a Seesaw Theatre production, you can sit back and relax, as an adventure guide acts as their liaison to the show.

Safe: Our shows are designed under strict supervision from our design chair, a student who spends extensive time researching the needs of neuro-diverse communities, and are made to be safe and accessible for our audience.

Free: We believe that theater and art are basic human rights, and as such we do not charge families, audience members, or classrooms to experience our work.

Our Goal

Our winter event is Rockin’ Rodeo which will include lunch, a craft, and a 30-minute theatrical production—all centered around the idea of what a day at the county fair sounds, feels, and looks like. Rockin’ Rodeo will include finding ways to make physically exclusive activities, like horseback riding, accessible for everyone. The production is written, produced, designed, directed, and organized entirely by Northwestern students who are passionate about creating art for audiences with developmental differences. The production will run for two days on the Northwestern campus and will then spend three weeks in residency at Park School in Evanston. During this residency, the performance will reach all 70 students at the school, including classes from kindergarten through high school.

We are trying to raise $1,200 to fund the entirety of our project. This money will go towards securing safe and dynamic props, sets, costumes, sound equipment, craft supplies for the audience members who experience the show, and more!

Levels
Choose a giving level

$10

Boot Barn Buddy

If you give $10, you will be responsible for making sure one child can experience our show for free. You’ll effectively be giving one child their cow-kid boots for the day!

$20

The Cactus Flower

If you give $20, you’ll be contributing everything we need to fill goody bags for a full show’s worth of kiddos. Pin the flower on the cactus anyone?

$60

The Cow-kid Hat

If you give $60, we will have enough funds to create the costumes of our Wild West dreams! The costumes require a lot of special care for they must be dynamic, engaging, and safe for all of our audience members. We can’t have a rodeo without cow-kid hats!

$100

A Barrel of Fun

If you give $100, you will be funding some key pieces of our set design! We are so excited to work together to create a safe, welcoming space for our audience members and their families. With this gift, you’ll make sure our barrel races are top notch.

$200

The Horse’s Neigh

If you contribute $200, you will have successfully funded HALF of our props budget. Props are the most important element of our show, giving each kiddo intriguing, safe items they can experiment with. From pieces of fur to popcorn-scented puffballs, this gift will guarantee each kiddo gets the Rockin’ Rodeo experience of their dreams. Forget the cat’s meow, you’ll be the horse’s neigh!
