Who are we?
We are America’s largest student-produced musical. Each year, we bring together over 150 undergraduate administrators, designers, technicians, actors and musicians to mount a Broadway-style musical in Cahn Auditorium. The final product – complete with dazzling costumes, a towering set, and a full orchestra – is a theatrical celebration shared among the Northwestern, Evanston and Chicagoland communities.
Our infrastructure affords students from all corners of campus the opportunity to work in a professional artistic environment. Every “Dolphin,” regardless of experience, expands their skillset and learns what it means to be part of a high-functioning team. Along the way, they discover their place among a tight-knit, tolerant, and empowering community. This spirit of joy and inclusion ultimately radiates far beyond Northwestern’s campus – over 3,000 people attend our show each year. Because of our commitment to accessibility, many of these audience members are individuals who otherwise would not be able to experience the kind of art we create.
Hello, Dolly!
This year’s production – Hello, Dolly! – promises to bring out the best of Dolphin. Dolly follows 1890’s New York socialite-turned-matchmaker Dolly Levi as she curates connections between the most unexpected of couples. A tale of romance and adventure, Dolly is full of shine and sparkle; its famously grandiose production values demand Dolphin’s unparalleled manpower. From jubilant parades to Broadway lights, we intend to bring spectacle and joy of the highest order to our audiences, all in service of a strong female lead and a message of love.
We need your help
Dolphin’s scale demands a massive production budget, one that cannot be fulfilled by ticket sales and university funding alone. Support from people like you allows us to keep admission to the Dolphin Show uniquely affordable, thereby making Dolphin accessible to broader and more diverse cross-sections of the Northwestern student body and beyond. Art like Dolphin is meant to shared; your support helps us do just that.
